Undercover agents work to investigate corrupt people

The president Abelardo De La Espriella explained that it is necessary “monitor contracts, advances, additions, assets, companies, real beneficiaries and financial movements”, when the law allows, to work outside of transparency in all cases of management of public money.

“Corruption is a transnational crime and so we have started to fight it. The corrupt are used to leaving the people in misery and enjoying their loot in developed countries: their Disney World is running out,” he reiterated.

According to his statements, for quite some time, the State looked for “the money after the robbery,” which is why he assured that in his government “They are not going to allow resources to be stolen.”

If there is evidence of a crime, fault or detriment, the president indicated that must be immediately referred to the Prosecutor’s Officethe Attorney General’s Office and the Comptroller’s Office. “There are no political courts here. There are complaints and justice,” he said.

De La Espriella also pointed out that Colombians They have the right to know “what happened” with the results in the previous government and everything related to the accounts, contracts, obligations, what disappeared and deteriorated.

“When they rob a hospital, there is a Colombian waiting for attention. When they steal school meals, there is a child without food. When they inflate a road, a school or an aqueduct, there is a town paying the price (…) Stealing a peso from the State is stealing it from Colombians“he added.

The official balance of the new government in its fight against corruption

from the past August 7the head of state launched a route against corruption and the guarantee of security in the national territory, which is why the president has set his eyes on the functioning of the regions and even higher education institutions.

In his message this Sunday, for example, De La Espriella maintained that in Montería he was clear with the rector of the University of Córdoba, Jairo Torres Oviedoon the autonomy of the institution. In his message he clarified that “autonomy” is not the absence of controls or a patent to engage in “corruption and politicking.”

“I ordered the Ministry of Educationwithin its powers, carry out inspection and surveillance about the rectory, the electoral processes and compliance with the statutes,” he explained.

And he added: “The University of Córdoba does not have owners: belongs to the people of Córdoba and their students. The authorities will say if there were irregularities. We guarantee due process. “No one who manages Colombian money is above scrutiny.”

The same warning was given about the management of University of Pamplonabecause according to the president “there are complaints of contractual management, external powers that order hiring and senseless bureaucracy.”

“I ordered the minister, Ilva Miryam Hoyos, exercise immediate surveillance. Public universities cannot continue to be a refuge for corruption or a hunting ground for political powers,” he said.

On the other hand, in the case of German Mirandaretired from the position of national director of Firefighters, the president of Colombia assured that “he acted forcefully” and that, as soon as he learned of these actions, “his presence became incompatible with his government.”

“That corrupt man broke trust and loyalty and could not continue in his position. I asked the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Lara, who declared insubsistentipso facto, his appointment. That’s how it was done,” he said.
