Madrid/The Cuban writer Maykel Rafael Paneque will present his novel this Saturday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. The smear machine at the Arenales Bookstore (Calle Vallehermoso 110, Madrid). The event will feature the participation of the artist and designer Julio Llópiz-Casal, who will accompany the author in a dialogue about this work awarded the Franz Kafka Novel Prize 2023 by a jury made up of Legna Rodríguez Iglesias, Ahmel Echevarría and Carlos A. Aguilera.
Through concise, direct and playful language, the novel delves into an experimental portrait of “subjectivities in disgrace” inhabited by suffocation, paranoia and the constant need to escape. Author of renowned titles such as Everything will be brief like rest and Watching the snow burnIn this story, Paneque brings together intellectuals, puppets and adrift figures to build a powerful reflection on helplessness and base instincts.
