The National Team is already installed in the United States to compete in another final phase of the World Championship. The Portuguese delegation landed in Palm Beach after a journey of around eight and a half hours from Lisbon, heading directly to the hotel that will serve as base for the Quinas Team during the group stage of the competition.
Before the match, the players and the structure of the Portuguese Football Federation were received in São Bento by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, who left a message of confidence and motivation to the group led by Roberto Martínez. The head of Government encouraged the team to live the moment with enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of facing the challenge with joy, work and a positive spirit.
“I sincerely hope you have fun and enjoy this experience with joy, confidence and enthusiasm”said Luís Montenegro, arguing that major goals can be achieved without fear and appealing to players to “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes”.
The president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, also reinforced confidence in the potential of the National Team, highlighting the work carried out in preparation for the competition and the ambition of achieving a historic result.
“We have a capable team, prepared very carefully and with great pleasure in representing Portugal”highlighted the director, adding that the team faces the challenge “with humility, without arrogance”but convinced of their capabilities.
