A 31-year-old police officer has been charged with wounding a 60-year-old farmer.
Police have alleged that Patrick Franklyn, of Questelles, wounded a 60-year-old farmer of Vermont by striking him on the right side of his face, causing him to fall on the ground and hit his head.
The offence was allegedly committed on April 18 in Kingstown.
Franklyn appeared before Senior Magistrate Tammika McKenzie at the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
He was granted EC$2,900 bail with one surety and ordered not to have any contact with the virtual complainant.
Franklyn must report to the Questelles Police Station on Fridays and the court ordered that stop notices be placed at ports of entry and exits.
The trial is set for Sept. 28
