German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius sees no signs that the US is going to withdraw from NATO.
He said this in an interview Rheinische Postreports “European Truth”.
Asked whether he was taking President Donald Trump’s threats to withdraw the US from NATO seriously, Pistorius said he judged politics by actions, not words.
“Currently, there are no signs that something in this direction is happening,” the minister emphasized.
At the same time, he added, it cannot be ruled out. “That’s why I stand by my opinion: NATO must become more European in order to remain transatlantic,” Pistorius said.
We will remind, against the background of the war in Iran, Trump said that he is seriously considering the possibility withdrawal of the United States from NATO.
Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk wants certainty about that, that NATO, in which the United States plays a central role, is still ready to give an adequate response in the event of an attack by Russia on one of the bloc’s member countries.
