

The president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez, visited the Summer Palace this weekend in Beijing and a traditional neighborhood of the Chinese capital with the characteristic ‘hutongs’, alleys that are located in the old town of the city.
Sánchez arrived in Beijing this Saturday accompanied by his wife for a visit whose official agenda will begin this Monday and which includes a series of meetings, including with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.
During the weekend he carried out a strictly private activityalthough images of the visit to some of the places in the city have been spread on social networks and in some Chinese media.

Specifically, you can see in them the chief executive and his wife touring the Summer Palace, which is located in an extensive park next to Kunming Lakewith buildings that have been restored and which was the temporary residence of Chinese emperors.
They have also visited a historic hutong neighborhood where the so-called Drum Tower and Bell Tower are located.
Sánchez’s official agenda will begin this Monday with visits to the Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (which will grant him an honorary degree) and the Xiaomi technology science park.
