Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the votes in the parliamentary elections. This follows from the data of the country’s Central Election Commission, published after processing 100% of the ballots.
Four parties enter parliament. In addition to the ruling one, these are the “Strong Armenia” bloc of Samvel Karapetyan (23.29%), the “Armenia” alliance of ex-President Robert Kocharyan (9.94%), and “Prosperous Armenia” (4%).
Nikol Pashinyan declared victory his party at night, after processing 20% of the votes. Ex-President Kocharyan named this statement is “steps to put pressure on the Central Election Commission and usurp power.”
After the publication of the final data of the CEC, Mr. Pashinyan published his own portrait on his Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), accompanying the post with the Queen song “We are the Champions.”
A total of 18 political forces took part in the elections. The turnout exceeded 50%.
