Palau Solar has formally recognized the Apostolic Foundation Church as the first recipient of its “Good Deeds” Competition, unveiling a commemorative plaque during a handover ceremony in Koror. The milestone highlights the church’s community outreach legacy—driven by the late Pastor Helga Sharp—while marking the lasting impact of renewable energy support in Palau.
KOROR, PALAU, April 22, 2026: On Tuesday, April 21, Palau Solar and the Apostolic Foundation Church held a formal handover ceremony to celebrate the church as the first-ever winner of the company’s ‘Good Deeds’ Competition and the recipients of a free solar panel system. Yesterday’s event marked the official recognition of that achievement.
Ross Waddington, CEO of Utilligence (Palau Solar’s UK-based parent company), traveled from the United Kingdom to Palau to attend the ceremony. His presence underscored the significance that the company places on serving the local community in Palau as part of its renewable energy work in the Pacific.
The commemorative plaque, now permanently displayed at the Apostolic Foundation Church, recognizes the church’s win and serves as a reminder of the outreach work originally led by the late Pastor Helga Sharp, who passed away earlier this year. Pastor Sharp was instrumental in the church’s mission to serve “lost souls and those most in need” in the local community, and it was her leadership that inspired the nomination that won the competition.
“The solar panels on this roof have already been working, saving the church money and allowing the team to put more resources into their community,” said Ross. “I’m proud to have made the journey from the UK to be here for this moment.”
Greg Decherong, Honorary President of Palau Solar, joined in presenting the plaque. “This plaque honors the work that Pastor Helga championed,” said Decherong. “Now there is a permanent reminder of her legacy in the community she served so well.”
Representatives of the Apostolic Foundation Church accepted the plaque on behalf of the congregation. The solar savings will continue to support the outreach programs Pastor Helga established, allowing her mission to carry forward.
Palau Solar confirmed that the solar panels will continue to provide the church with reduced electricity costs and that the company remains committed to ongoing repairs and maintenance as part of the original ‘Good Deeds’ award.
A new Good Deeds competition will be launching soon, giving community and educational projects the benefit of also making savings with a free solar installation.
