Only three people from PSD would have decided the alliance with AUR. The decision caused tensions in the SOURCES party

Decision P.S.D to go along with GOLD in initiating a motion of censure against the Government Ilia Bolojan it was taken in an extremely narrow circle of the party’s leadership, without being communicated to the majority of leaders and parliamentarians, who learned about this approach from the press.

Digi 24.ro cites sources from P.S.Dwho say that the strategy was decided by Sorin Grindeanu, Claudio Manda and Marian Neacșu, while the official announcement came right at the time of the Cotroceni consultations, causing surprise and tension within the formation.

Grindeau previously denied an alliance with AUR

The leader P.S.DSorin Grindeanu, had previously stated that the party will not form a majority with AUR and that there are fundamental differences between the two formations, including regarding the pro-European orientation. At this moment, parliamentary calculations show that PSD and AUR do not have enough votes to dismiss the Government, needing the support of other parties in the Opposition, which makes political negotiations decisive for the evolution of the motion.

Signatures collected for the motion

The decision was made public even while President Nicușor Dan was discussing, at the Cotroceni Palace, with the leaders of the parties in the coalition, in an attempt to find a solution for the exit from the political crisis. “I found out from the press,” one of the party’s leaders told Digi24.ro, describing a tense atmosphere within the party.

“We knew we weren’t drinking champagne with GOLD,” said another party representative. “Let it be.”

According to party sources, PSD started collecting signatures from MPs about a week before, for a possible censure motion. However, the MPs were not told that the signatures could be used for a joint approach with the AUR.

“We were told that it is good to have them, for a possible motion or a law urgent,” declared one of the PSD parliamentarians. Another leader explained that collecting signatures in advance is a common practice: “On the model, let it be!” he declared.

Starting at 14:00, PSD leaders will meet in a meeting of the National Political Bureau.
