The Croatian police arrested a group of 14 people who came to the island of Hvar with the intention of physically attacking two seasonal workers from Serbia, the Split-Dalmatia police announced today.
The police announced that they spotted two vehicles with 14 people between the ages of 18 and 33 near a hotel in the town of Hvar on Thursday and found wooden bats, a telescopic baton and hoods to hide their faces – “phantoms” in the vehicles.
The criminal investigation established a well-founded suspicion that the twelve arrived by speedboat from Trogir and Kaštela in the bay of Stiniva Bruška on Hvar, ten kilometers from the hotel.
They were met by two people with a van and a car to take them to the hotel where the two seasonal workers, citizens of Serbia, who were the target of the attack, work.
The criminal investigation established a well-founded suspicion that the men, all citizens of Croatia, committed the criminal offense of “Agreement to commit a criminal offense” and criminal charges will be filed against them to the prosecutor’s office.
Four people: a 33-year-old man, two 22-year-old men and an 18-year-old man, were taken into custody with criminal charges.
The objects with which they intended to carry out the attack, the speedboat and the vehicles, were temporarily confiscated until the court’s decision.
Croatian media write that they are members of the Torcida fan group.
