Muscat: Eligible farmers in Oman can now apply to recruit Bangladeshi agricultural workers after the Omani Agricultural Association (OAA), Al Dhahirah Branch, announced the opening of applications under an approved labour recruitment programme.
The association said the recruitment process is being carried out in accordance with approvals issued by the Ministry of Labour and the Royal Oman Police, enabling registered farmers to obtain visas for Bangladeshi farm workers.
Applications are open exclusively to registered members of the OAA’s Al Dhahirah Branch. Applicants must have paid the annual membership fee of RO 25 and submit copies of their agricultural holding (hiyaza) certificate, national identity card, a valid Ministry of Labour work permit, and the agricultural cultivation form for the 2026/2027 season detailing crops and cultivated areas.
Applications will be accepted from August 9 to August 20, 2026, during official working hours from 8 am to 1 pm, at the association’s office in Al Murtafa’a, Ibri.
The association stressed that incomplete applications or those lacking the required supporting documents will not be considered.
A Sanad office owner told the Observer that the allocation of 5,000 Bangladeshi agricultural workers approved for recruitment is reserved exclusively for registered members of agricultural associations across Oman. The quota will be distributed among governorates, with each governorate or agricultural association eligible to recruit up to 330 workers, within the overall allocation of 5,000 workers.
The initiative is expected to help farmers meet seasonal labour requirements while ensuring recruitment is carried out in line with Oman’s labour and immigration regulations.
