Fenerbahçe basketball players took a 2:0 lead against Zalgiris in the quarter-final series of the Euroleague playoffs, as they won 86:74 (26:14, 25:19, 15:14, 20:27) on their court in Istanbul tonight.
Niccolò Melli was the most effective player in Fenerbahçe, the current champion of the Euroleague, with 17 points. Nando de Colo added 16 points, Tarik Biberovic scored 15, while Mikael Jantunen recorded 13 points and six rebounds. Wade Baldwin was also in double figures with 11 points, along with seven assists. Azuolas Tubelis and Moses Wright were the most effective in the Zalgiris team with 16 points each, while Silvan Francisco added 11 points and six assists.
The winner of the series is the team that records three victories, and the next game is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, in Kaunas. Olympiakos, who took a 2:0 lead against Monaco, is one step away from the final four, having won 94:64 (28:23, 31:8, 13:22, 22:11) at home in Piraeus.
The most effective player in the Olympiakos team was this season’s most valuable player (MVP) of the Euroleague Sasa Vezenkov with 21 points and seven rebounds. Evan Fournier added 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds, Shaquille McKissick added 11 points and Thomas Walkup scored 10.
In the Monaco team, Kevarius Hayes was the most effective player with 11 points. Alpha Diallo and Matthew Strazel each added 10 points, while Eli Okobo and Jaron Blossomgame scored nine points each. The next game on the schedule is on Tuesday, May 5, in Monaco.
