One person was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition after an officer-involved shooting in southeast Calgary.
Police say the shooting happened when officers responded to multiple reports about a dangerous driver on Deerfoot Trail S.E. near Memorial Drive S.E. on Sunday afternoon.
Shots were fired when officers tried to arrest the driver, who police say they believe was the same person responsible for driving erratically and fleeing from police over the previous 24 hours.
Police said multiple officers used a variety of tools during the confrontation, with one officer firing their gun.
Police said the extent of the person’s injuries remain unknown. They say no officers or members of the public were injured.
Police said the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating.
Northbound Deerfoot Trail, between Memorial Drive S.E. and 16th Avenue, was closed as of Sunday evening.
Police say those closures will be in effect for some time, and that drivers should look for other routes.
