The tragedy happened in the yard of the family house in the hamlet of Miričina Polje, where a man shot his wife to death, after which he shot himself in the head.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton issued a statement detailing the event.
“On June 21, 2026, around 7:40 p.m., the Gračanica PS received a report that a firearm had been used in Miričina, Gračanica, and that there were injured persons. Police officers from the Gračanica PS and the OKP of the PU of Gračanica were sent to the scene, as well as the SHMP of the Gračanica Health Center. The allegations of the report were confirmed, the body of a woman NK (1958) was found at the scene without signs of life, while the injured man was SK (1958) was sent to a medical facility, but he subsequently died in the vehicle. The KTTK cantonal prosecutor will be in charge of the investigation, which will be carried out by the investigators of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in order to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The scene of the event is secured by police officers, and the investigation into the circumstances of the double tragedy will be led by investigators of the Criminal Police Sector of the Police Department of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Turkey, under the direction of the cantonal prosecutor of the KTTK.
