PARADISE — Fourteen-year-old NI suffered a deep hood injury to his arm, while his 34-year-old mother AJ had multiple cuts on the body. Mother and son were attacked by their 58-year-old neighbor MHR with a sharp object on Pisang Kapokweg on Monday evening, the Suriname Police Corps wrote on its website. The two victims were in the company of fifteen-year-old SJ, the woman’s son, and nineteen-year-old SR, friend of her two sons.
When the report was recorded by the Paradise police, it became clear that the suspect is an alcohol addict who often abuses local residents. However, on Monday evening he turned to physical violence. The law enforcement officers immediately tracked down the suspect and were able to arrest him shortly afterwards at his home address. The man had the sharp object with him. The weapon was seized by the police in the interest of the investigation. MHR was taken into custody after consultation with the Public Prosecution Service.
