Ulaanbaatar,
April 8, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The
Asian Wrestling Championships in Greco-Roman and freestyle disciplines are
currently underway in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
During
the event, the United World Wrestling’s Asian Council held its General Assembly,
where Myanganbayar Batsukh, Secretary General of the Mongolian Wrestling
Federation, was appointed as the representative in charge of the East Asian
region. This marks the first time a Mongolian official will serve in this role.
The East Asian region comprises nine countries and territories: Mongolia, South
Korea, North Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, and Guam.
The
Greco-Roman competition began on April 6. Representing Mongolia, Davaabandii M.
(55 kg) and Nambardagva B. (130 kg) were eliminated in the opening round.
Meanwhile, G. Gankhuyag, competing in the 97 kg category, defeated his Saudi
Arabian opponent but lost to China’s Wang Zegang in the quarterfinals.
