Monaco celebrated the achievements of its young athletes on Wednesday, June 10, as the Department of Education, Youth and Sport hosted the second edition of the Principality’s UNSS Awards Ceremony.
The event recognised nearly 140 students from Lycée Albert Ier, Lycée Rainier III, Collège Charles III and Institution François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré for their sporting achievements and commitment throughout the academic year.
Awards were presented not only for athletic success but also for qualities such as dedication, teamwork, consistency and exemplary conduct, reflecting the values promoted through school sport across the Principality.
The 2025-26 season proved another successful year for Monaco’s UNSS district, which now boasts 682 registered participants, representing more than 23 percent of students enrolled in the Principality’s schools.
Several teams achieved notable results on the national stage. Students from Lycée Albert Ier, Institution François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré and Collège Charles III qualified for the French UNSS football championships, with Collège Charles III securing a bronze medal and third place nationally.
Monaco’s students also earned national qualifications in cross-country running and badminton through Lycée Rainier III, while Lycée Albert Ier qualified in rowing. Throughout the year, young athletes represented the Principality across a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, gymnastics, climbing, basketball, fencing and dance.
The ceremony also highlighted the growing involvement of student officials within school sport. A total of 99 young people obtained official certification this season, enabling them to take on roles in refereeing, event organisation and competition management.
Organisers additionally paid tribute to Monaco’s physical education teachers, whose work throughout the year helps support student development and strengthens the school sports programme across the Principality.
Through the awards ceremony, Monaco’s authorities reaffirmed their commitment to school sport and the values it promotes, including respect, solidarity, responsibility and personal achievement.
