Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khameneiis in the process of recovery after allegedly suffering serious injuries during an airstrike in late February in Tehranaccording to published information.
According to the newspaper The Vanguardsources close to his environment cited by Reuters, reported that Khamenei would have been severe injuries to the face, which would have even caused disfigurementas well as significant damage to one or both legs.
The attack also killed his father, former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, who ruled the country for more than three decades.
Although his physical condition has generated concern, the same sources assure that The 56-year-old leader remains mentally lucid and continues to participate in key decisions of the State through remote meetings with senior officials.
According to La Vanguardia, there is no official confirmation from the Iranian authorities about the extent of his injuries, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Nor have recent images of the leader been released since the attack or after his appointment on March 8.
