    Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways resume operations


    KUWAIT: Kuwait Airways announced on Wednesday the resumption of its scheduled operations from Terminal 4 (T4) at Kuwait International Airport, alongside the reorganization of flights affected by the temporary airspace closure, in coordination with the relevant authorities. Acting Chief Executive Officer Abdulwahab Al-Shatti told KUNA that the airline immediately activated its approved emergency operational procedures following developments earlier in the day, working in close coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other concerned authorities to ensure the highest standards of safety and security.

    Al-Shatti said the measures included postponing several inbound and outbound flights in line with operational requirements and established safety protocols, stressing that the airline handled the situation efficiently in accordance with pre-prepared contingency plans designed for such exceptional circumstances. He reaffirmed that the safety of passengers, aircraft and crew remains Kuwait Airways’ top priority, noting that the decision to resume operations came after continuous coordination and approval from the civil aviation authorities, following confirmation of full operational readiness for the safe restoration of air traffic.

    He added that Kuwait Airways resumed full operations immediately upon receiving clearance, reopening all passenger check-in counters and increasing staffing levels to expedite procedures and minimize delays. The airline also worked to accommodate affected passengers and ensure smooth travel flow despite earlier disruptions.

    Al-Shatti said passengers whose bookings were affected by the temporary airspace closure have been offered flexibility to cancel or reschedule their flights without incurring change or cancellation fees, as part of the airline’s efforts to ease the impact of the exceptional situation. He stressed that Kuwait Airways continues to monitor developments around the clock in coordination with the relevant authorities, reiterating its commitment to the highest safety and security standards while maintaining operational continuity in line with best practices in the aviation sector.

    Meanwhile, Jazeera Airways also announced the resumption of its commercial operations from Terminal 5 (T5) at Kuwait International Airport following receipt of full security clearance from the relevant authorities. In a statement, Chief Executive Officer Barathan Pasubathy said the airline remains committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of its passengers and crew, noting that some flights may still experience delays or cancellations due to the evolving operational situation.

    He advised passengers scheduled to travel on Wednesday to verify their flight status via the airline’s official website before heading to the airport. Pasubathy reiterated that passenger safety remains the airline’s highest priority, emphasizing Jazeera Airways’ commitment to serving Kuwait with responsibility, flexibility and operational diligence. He also expressed appreciation for passengers’ understanding and patience during the disruption, adding that customers can seek assistance or updated information through the airline’s website, mobile application, or customer service channels. — KUNA
