Microsoft has extended the Windows 10 security updates program for another year.
According to Zomit, Microsoft officially announced that the Extended Security Update (ESU) program for Windows 10 operating system has been extended until October 12, 2027 (20 October 1406). This is while the end of this period was planned for October 2026 (Mehr and Aban 1405).
Users already enrolled in the plan will automatically receive this additional year of support and do not need to take any new action.
Users can sign up for this plan for free by logging into their Microsoft account. It is also possible to access these updates by paying $30.
This decision by Microsoft is probably a reaction to the global RAM price crisis and the increase in the cost of buying new personal computers. With hundreds of millions of devices running Windows 10, these updates are critical to protecting users from security vulnerabilities.
