MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – There is an idea to bring the theater production His Name Was Not Listed play directed by Vladimir Mashkov to Brest, Minsk, Russian businessman Dmitry Mazepin, who is a shareholder of the potash producer Uralkali, told the media following the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 3 June, BelTA has learned.
The play, based on the novel by Boris Vasiliev, was staged by director Vladimir Mashkov at the Oleg Tabakov Theater. A film of the same name starring Vladimir Mashkov was released in 2025.
“I suggested to Aleksander Lukashenko that next year, on the eve of 22 June, we show the play and bring Moscow artists led by Vladimir Mashkov to Brest for one day and then to Minsk too,” Dmitry Mazepin said.
“I was born in Minsk, it is my hometown. I am, after all, Belarusian. My mother lives here,” he explained. “I proposed this project to Aleksandr Lukashenko so that we remember once again that the war ended in Berlin in 1945, but it began at Brest Fortress.”
