Participation in the Marcona Wind Trail 2026 will also have a social impact. Marcobre and Make-A-Wish Peru announced an alliance through which the company will allocate S/10 for each runner registered in the eleventh edition of the competition to help make the wishes of children and adolescents who are experiencing serious illnesses come true.
The initiative will be developed through Run For Wishes, a Make-A-Wish program that uses sports as a way to mobilize people around its mission. Thus, the race seeks to add to its traditional conservation purpose a dimension linked to supporting children and adolescents.
“The Marcona Wind Trail maintains its purpose of running for conservation, but this year we want that effort to mean something more. Just as behind every runner there is a goal that requires preparation, effort and perseverance, behind every desire there is also an objective that a community can help make possible,” said José Luis Abeo, Marcobre Communications Superintendent.
The workers also join
The alliance also includes the participation of Marcobre workers as Runners for Wishes, who will be able to involve their family, friends and contacts in the initiative.
Participants will have the opportunity to share the official Make-A-Wish Peru QR so that interested people can make additional contributions directly to the organization.
“Sport has an enormous capacity to mobilize people around a goal. With this alliance we seek that this energy can also be converted into hope and the possibility of making the wishes of more children and adolescents come true,” said María Gracia Avilez, executive director of Make-A-Wish Peru.
More than a decade of career
The Marcona Wind Trail reaches its eleventh edition this year and, since its inception, has sought to link sports practice with the conservation of the landscapes and biodiversity of San Juan de Marcona, in Ica.
Throughout its ten previous editions, the competition has brought together runners from different countries and neighbors, workers, families, entrepreneurs and local allies.
For the 2026 edition, Marcobre seeks to expand that reach through an experience that combines sport, conservation and social commitment, with the possibility that the participation of each runner also contributes to the fulfillment of a wish.
