After an extensive renovation, Maniitsoq’s Atlantic quay was inaugurated on Monday 6 July.
Maniitsoq takes one decisive step in the development of the city’s and the region’s infrastructure when the completely renovated Atlantkaj is now officially inaugurated. Already at the end of 2025, the main contract was handed over, and after the final finishing works in the spring, the quay is now fully operational with modern quay equipment.

The reopening marks a significant milestone for the municipality, business and the maritime connections to and from the city. The modern infrastructure will create a significantly better framework for cargo and passenger handling, support local growth opportunities and ensure a more robust supply chain.
– The total renovation of the Atlantic quay is an important boost for Maniitsoq and the maritime infrastructure in the region. I am very satisfied with the strong cooperation among all involved, which has both ensured the effective implementation of the project and the aim of maintaining the city’s supply and ensured the city’s development, says Naalakkersuisoq Housing, Infrastructure, Outlying Districts and Emergency Services, Iddimanngiiu Jensen Bianco (IA).
The construction process has been characterized by a close and well-functioning collaboration between KJ Construction, Royal Arctic Line, Royal Greenland and other local players.
In Maniitsoq, the day was celebrated with speeches from Naalakkersuisoq for infrastructure, Iddimanngiiu Jensen Bianco and municipal council member Gedion Lyberth. On the occasion of the day, a coffee party was also held in the Atlantkajen.
