A man was found dead on Monday after a boat accident at Itilleq south of Sisimiut.
The Greenland Police is investigating an incident at sea that claimed the life of a man. This is according to the head of duty at the Greenland Police, Siimuut Dahl.
The report was received on Monday at 1:17 p.m., after a citizen found a man in the fjord. It turns out that the man was involved in a boat accident on Saturday and that there had been two people on board the boat. These were missing and wanted by locals in the area, the police said.
The incident is still being investigated
After the notification, a SAR operation was subsequently launched with several authorities.
– The next of kin of the deceased have been informed, and a crisis response has been activated in the municipality, so that citizens who have been involved in the incident can get help, the warden informs.
– We are still present in the fjord, and we are still conducting investigations throughout the day, Siimuut Dahl.
The police cannot comment more concretely on the case at this time.
