…as birthday hunting trip ends in tragedy
(Kaieteur News) – A hunting trip organised to celebrate a friend’s birthday ended in tragedy last Friday when a Mahaicony man fell into the Mahaica Creek and drowned.
Dead is 25-year-old Robindranauth Persaud, popularly known as “Robbie”, of Zealand, Mahaicony, Region Five. His body was discovered washed ashore at Unity Beach on Sunday.
Persaud had left home with four friends on Friday for a hunting expedition, which was intended to secure wild game for a birthday celebration being held for one of the group members.
However, the outing took a devastating turn when Persaud reportedly fell into the Mahaica Creek and disappeared beneath the water.
Despite efforts to locate him, he remained missing until his body was found two days later at Unity Beach.
The incident has left relatives, friends and residents of the Mahaicony community in mourning.
