Adwin Alonza Cumberbatch now has 30 convictions to his name after admitting to stealing chocolates and cheese from a supermarket.
The 68-year-old of My Lords Hill Main Road, St Michael pleaded guilty to stealing two chocolates valued at $43.68 and one block of cheese valued at $8.82 belonging to Massy Stores IRP on August 12.
The No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court heard that the accused arrived at the Worthing store and took up several food items before walking into the chocolate aisle. Security observed as he put the other items on a shelf, took up the chocolates and placed them and the block of cheese into his pants pockets and made his way outside without paying. He was stopped by security and searched. Police were contacted.
Cumberbatch apologised for his actions, saying “I am asking for a bond or a fine”.
Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick remanded him into custody until September 10 pending sentencing.
