A 5-year-old boy was reported missing in Trang Village, Kandek Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province.
Following the report, the Criminal Investigation Division and Prasat Bakong District Police launched an investigation. Police later arrested Chen Sok, 28, a truck driver living in Siem Reap province, who is the former brother-in-law of the boy’s parents.
During questioning after his arrest, the suspect stated that, on April 15, he first deceived the child, then took him to a remote area in the rice fields, and finally used a knife to stab him, causing the boy’s death at the scene.
Shortly after the boy’s death on April 15, the individual concealed the body in a remote area about 100 meters south of the red gravel road near Keo Saran Road in Chres Village, Kandek Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province.
The suspect was sent to court by the specialised police force on April 16 for legal proceedings.
