Söder praises the tax package
CSU leader Markus Söder calls the package decided by the coalition “strong”. It is a “further step out of the crisis” that shows that the coalition is capable of acting. “We are making progress, and at an increasing pace,” said Söder at the coalition leaders’ press conference in Berlin.
Söder emphasizes that the reforms made the state leaner and more flexible. As an example, he cites the supply chain law, which is now only being implemented according to the European minimum and is not being “saddled up” with stricter rules. This is a relief for small and medium-sized companies.
He praises the tax package for not being financed through the “left pocket, right pocket” principle. Because there is no higher company car tax, no increase in inheritance tax or wealth tax. The relief included ten billion euros, “that’s something,” said Söder. Söder believes it is fair that the so-called rich tax is being increased. “We think this is a good compromise.”
