Lewis to build on strong foundation as new Executive Director of NIS

Effective July 1, 2026, Ronette Lewis, formerly Chief Executive Officer at the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED), officially took on the role of Executive Director of the National Insurance Services (NIS), becoming the first woman to lead the institution.

Lewis has filled the position following the exit of Stewart Haynes, who took over the reins of leadership of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE), headquartered in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.

Lewis, who has a background in private sector consultancy, business and MSME development, and as a business incubation manager, sees her role at the NIS as no dissimilar because the NIS is really about providing that social security net for persons during the most troubling times, in the time when they need it most.
