Legendary Marina Resort at Bluewater Cay held an opening ceremony yesterday for its first phase, the Legendary Blue Water Cay Marina. This first phase of the project provides the first Category 5 hurricane-rated boat storage facility in the region, one of Legendary’s principals William Pizzorni said during the ceremony.
Pizzorni said the entire project, which includes a restaurant, resort hotel, shopping center and marina with storage facility, will cost more than $500 million. He said it was a pleasure to finally open the first phase “after so much time and hard work”.
Pizzorni revealed that Legendary recently signed an agreement with one of the largest marina groups in the US, called Suntex Marinas. He explained that that relationship should ensure robust business throughout the summer.
He added that recent changes to boating fees will help as well.
Pizzorni said the expansion of the marina will continue, as Legendary works toward the development of more of the marina’s amenities.
“Now we’ll keep building more docks. We’ll do this year the supermarket,” he said.
“It’s going to get a retail store and one of the restaurants. We will keep expanding our docks, and then next year we will break ground on the actual resort.”
The resort will be a 130-room hotel – the fourth phase of the project – and will be completed in roughly three years, Pizzorni said.
During his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony almost two years ago, Chairman of Legendary Family of Companies Peter Bos explained that the goal is for Legendary Marina Resort at Bluewater Cay to be a hub for boaters to move across The Bahamas.
