    Kuwait MoI permits round-clock navigation for fishing, pleasure boats


    KUWAIT:  The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced Saturday that fishing and pleasure boats will be permitted to sail around the clock, effective Sunday, lifting all previous time restrictions.In a press statement, the Ministry indicated that the decision follows a comprehensive assessment of the current security situation, aiming to allow maritime enthusiasts to operate day and night without compromising the safety and security of the country’s territorial waters.

    The Ministry urged all seafarers to strictly adhere to designated maritime zones outlined on the official navigation map.It explicitly prohibited approaching or sailing near oil installations, vital strategic sites, and the maritime sector spanning north to northeast of Failaka Island and south of Bubiyan Island, citing public security and safety protocols.

    Furthermore, the statement underscored the mandatory activation of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) at all times while at sea to enhance maritime surveillance, facilitate tracking, and ensure rapid emergency response by authorities.

    The Ministry also reminded individuals wishing to enter Kuwait Bay-including beachgoers and amateur fishermen-to secure a mandatory QR code permit from the Environment Public Authority (EPA) via the unified government e-services application (Sahel).

    It affirmed that the General Directorate of Coast Guard maintains round-the-clock surveillance of Kuwait’s maritime borders and calls on all citizens and residents to fully comply with issued directives to ensure the highest standards of safety and maritime security. — KUNA
