A 3rd grade student from a Zagreb high school will have to participate in humanitarian work or work of a communal or environmental nature for 50 hours over three months. He will also have to participate in psychosocial treatment at a youth counseling center, which can last up to a year. And that’s because that’s what the judicial panel of the Municipal Criminal Court in Zagreb decided.
Namely, that court decision was handed down to the 16-year-old after information reached the competent institutions last year about an incredible three criminal offenses against a male person whom he, along with another co-accused, believed to be a pedophile.
According to the report, the crimes involved robbery, extortion, and unauthorized audio recording and wiretapping, so in addition to the police, the competent state attorney’s office and the Croatian Institute for Social Work also got involved in the case.
What is happening in Zagreb? Violence among teenagers jumped 173 percent
And it all started with communication through the dating site Badoo, where they contacted the victim, falsely introduced themselves to him and arranged a live meeting. Given that the goal of the minors, one of whom remained unidentified, was to obtain material benefits, they introduced themselves to the lured man as Panthers, i.e. members of an organization against pedophilia.
They threatened to beat him up and demanded money, so the victim first gave them 15 euros. They continued to search him for more money and along the way forced him to say that “he is a pedophile, that he likes boys and that he came to meet a 14-year-old boy”. At the same time, they also recorded the man with his cell phone, without his permission, and then threatened him again that he had to hand over the Balenciaga sneakers he was wearing.
Those scenes took place on the first day of February in a public place, and then they gave the man new fears during the week. They contacted him via Instagram threatening him: ‘Open the message or there will be a recording’, and they moved the communication further to Snapchat and threatened him again to publish the video they recorded during the first meeting if he did not pay them 1,200 euros. Remembering that he was forced to speak on that occasion, the victim decided to ‘buy’ silence and peace, so he sent the extortionists a package with Dior sneakers and 40 euros via Bolt.
A gang of juveniles in Zagreb attacked a policewoman and beat up her boyfriend!?
The extortion continued in the following days, so the victim sent them another package with Zara’s T-shirt, jewelry and money with a total value of 140 euros. And then they demanded from him, with the threat of publishing the same recording, first 1000 euros and then 1500 euros; however, the victim continued to ignore these requests, so a new torture followed, but this time on TikTok, when the recording was made public at the end of February.
The accused high school student admitted everything in the courtroom, he does not have to pay court costs, and the injured man was sent to a new court battle with a property claim.
