The strong storm that hit parts of the Požega-Slavonska County on Sunday damaged the roof of the elementary school in Jakšić, and during the evening firefighters installed protective nylon to prevent further intrusion of rainwater.
DVD commander Jakšić Domagoj Kir he told Hina that the school was left without a part of the roof and that the firemen were repairing the consequences of the storm. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
“The school was left without a roof, and now we are putting on the nylon,” said Kir, who was on the roof of the school building at the time of the interview.
The Public Fire Department of Požega stated that the area of the City of Požega was not affected by the storm and that, according to the information they have, the storm affected the area of Papuk, part of Psunj and the municipality of Jakšić.
Competent services will assess the extent of the damage after visiting the field and completing the emergency interventions.
– Everything happened suddenly. A big white cloud hung over Jakšić and a terribly strong wind blew. The school was left without a large part of the roof in an instant – locals told the local portal.
A video of the damage to the school was published by the portal Požega.eu on his Facebook page. No one was hurt, and the firemen soon arrived at the scene.
