I’m glad that the police managed to solve it, but there is always the bitterness of whether it could have been prevented. Fortunately, no one was injured in that building, where there were many small children at the time of the fire. It all started 15 days ago when I received a message at around 11 pm that if I don’t pay 7 million euros into a crypto account, my cars will be set on fire. I’ve never had a problem with anyone, so this shook me even more. I’m not scary, but I contacted the police for help. And after the fire, I received a new message from them that, I guess, now that my Lambo and the building burned down, I will pay the money – a well-known construction entrepreneur from Veliko Gorica told Jutarnji list, after two weeks of uncertainty and fear.

He tells us that he does not know the suspects, and as for the arrested girl, he tells us that she is the daughter of a man from whom he bought a project, i.e. land with permits, in Velika Gorica some time ago.
– My daughter heard from my business partner that this 23-year-old woman was planning extortion. One simply cannot believe in some things. The fact that the cars were damaged is the least damage, the problem is the apartments of nine people. The top floor was on fire. Fortunately, there is wool from the ground floor to the top, so the fire stopped at one point. The first fire was noticed by a neighbor who called me that the building was on fire. The firemen came quickly, and one lady in one apartment, who normally uses a walking aid, didn’t even want to go out. She was scared when they broke into her apartment to evacuate her, but she didn’t understand why she was being ‘pulled’ out of her apartment in the middle of the night while she was sleeping – the entrepreneur recalls the night of last Friday from a nightmare.
When asked if he still feels fear, he says that he doesn’t care, especially after another realization in a series. Namely, the suspects rented an apartment in a building where, in turn, the entrepreneur’s daughter lives, and it was at that location that some of them were arrested while jumping from the second floor through the window, tying sheets…
– No one can pay damages to people who woke up at 3 am in their homes surrounded by smoke and fire. People were justifiably afraid for their lives. Good thing no one died! And with this quick resolution of the case, the police showed everyone that extortion does not pay. I wouldn’t even pay 7 euros if someone extorted me, let alone 7 million. Where did they get the idea and that amount? Did they think that extortion could be used to make money? I work from morning until tomorrow, all day long. I regularly pay taxes to the state, so I paid 300,000 euros in taxes for those two Lamborghinis with Croatian license plates. I fulfilled my wish at the age of 63 – says the entrepreneur at the end, noting that he owes nothing to anyone.
By the way, as we unofficially find out, while the businessman was at the headquarters of the Criminal Police during Friday, he still received messages from the extortionists, so in agreement with the police he answered one of them, offering a proposal to meet in private, in private. And that was enough to ‘catch’ their signal and locate them very quickly…
The damage caused from the initially estimated 1.2 million euros is, as we have learned, also far greater.
