The Association of Interprovincial Bus Transporters of the Junin Region warned that the sustained rise in the price of diesel and informality have been affecting the operation of formal companies in the sector. The union requested a hearing with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) to expose the situation and propose measures.
According to the statement, the increase in fuel has considerably increased operating costs, especially for small and medium-sized businesses. Carriers point out that, if this trend continues, some companies could reduce frequencies, pass on higher costs to passengers or even suspend operations.
One of the main complaints is related to the subsidy of S/4 per gallon of diesel approved by the Government through Emergency Decree No. 004-2026. The union maintains that the S/33.8 million allocated to the benefit would be insufficient to meet the demand of companies that meet the established requirements.
The association points out that the applications would exceed 6,000while, according to the information received by the union, only 1,778 companies could access the subsidy due to budget availability. For this reason, it asks to expand the item and prevent formal carriers from being excluded despite meeting the conditions.
It also requests that the Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) publicly report the number of requests received, how many meet the requirements, how many were attended to, and the available budget balance. In addition, it plans to evaluate an extension of the registration period for those who had difficulties with the digital platform.

In relation to the increase in fuel prices that has not been resolved with the subsidy, Barranca transporters, grouped in the Provincial Guild of Freight and Logistics Transporters and the Association of Heavy Load Transporters of the province, have also called for a Mass “engine shutdown” for this Monday, October 5th starting at 6:00 am The leaders described the current situation of their sector as “sustainable” due to the indiscriminate increase in the price of fuel, which directly harms their daily operations. Faced with this scenario, they made an urgent call to all their colleagues to join the paralyzation of its heavy cargo units, with the aim of putting pressure on and jointly establishing a new freight table that will allow them to face the economic crisis.
The union also warned about the impact of informal transportation. According to him, operators who work outside of legal authorizations and obligations do not face the same qualification costs, insurance, maintenance, technical reviews and tax obligations than formal companies, which allows them to compete with lower rates.
Faced with this situation, the Junín transporters requested to strengthen inspection on roads and terminals, in coordination with the SUTRANthe National Police and regional governments. They also proposed establishing a permanent working group to identify the routes and critical points where informal transportation is concentrated.
Finally, the Association of Interprovincial Bus Transporters of Junín asked the MTC for a meeting to address the rise in fuel prices, access to subsidies and informality. The union maintains that these measures are necessary to guarantee the continuity and sustainability of formal interprovincial transportation.
