Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on the X social network to the decision of the Administrative Court on the issue of magistrates’ salaries, criticizing the speed with which, according to him, the court acted on a matter that directly affects the interests of the judicial system itself.
Rama writes that, if the Administrative Court had the same standard and the same speed for every citizen or institution waiting for a solution, this would be to be welcomed. According to him, it is “extremely disturbing” that a security measure is taken so quickly for a matter related to the increase in the salaries of magistrates, while thousands of citizens’ files have been waiting in the courts for years.
“But to take the first security measure in the history of the world in the blink of an eye, not to stop it, but to encourage for self-interest the execution of an act that probably violates the law and the public interest, while thousands and thousands of case files are waiting for years in the drawers of the court in question, this is something very disturbing”, writes Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasizes that, according to him, “the doors of the state treasury can only be opened by the independent legislative power”, adding that the Assembly will deal with the issue in compliance with the decision of the Constitutional Court.
“The doors of the state treasury are opened only by the independent legislative power, and the Assembly of Albania will do its duty on this subject, in compliance with the decision of the Constitutional Court, on Thursday, September 17”, writes Rama.
The full statement of the Prime Minister
If the Administrative Court had a standard for every citizen or institution in trouble, the infernal speed with which it acted today to open the doors of the treasury to increase its own salaries without the approval of the parliament, I believe that every employed Albanian would be ready to forgive half of his salary to the flying runners of the Administrative Court…
But to take the first security measure in the history of the world in the blink of an eye, not to stop it, but to encourage for self-interest the execution of an act that probably violates the law and the public interest, while thousands and thousands of case files are waiting for years in the drawers of the court in question, this is something very confusing! Here is also in the attached table what the Administrative Court requires at the doors of the state treasury without going through the parliament at all, while I repeat: The doors of the state treasury are opened only by the independent legislative power and the Assembly of Albania will do its duty on this subject, in compliance with the decision of the Constitutional Court, on Thursday, September 17.
