The Israeli army announced that today it intercepted two missiles that crossed from Lebanon to the territory of Israel, after the sirens went off in the areas of Jiftah and Ramot Naftali, Reuters reports.
Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have not stopped, while the Lebanese militant group rejects proposals linking the ceasefire to its disarmament, saying Israel must first stop attacks and withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon.
Iran has made any peace deal with the United States of America (US) conditional on a ceasefire in Lebanon between its close ally Hezbollah and Israel.
Hezbollah joined the war on March 2, saying it was responding to the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader at the start of a conflict that has since killed thousands of people in Lebanon and displaced more than a million.
Israel continued to carry out attacks in Lebanon before March 2, despite a US-brokered ceasefire that came into effect in November 2024. It said its attacks were targeting Hezbollah members and its infrastructure.
