The Director of the Irbid Governorate Agriculture Directorate, Dr. Abdel Hafez Abu Orabi, renewed his urgent call to farmers to take immediate preventive measures to protect their agricultural crops that have not yet been harvested, especially wheat and barley crops.
Dr. Abu Orabi stressed the importance of clearing the sides of cultivated lands from dry grasses, and opening “fire lines” separating large areas to contain any potential fire and prevent its spread.
Fire losses and rescue efforts:
This call came after an unfortunate fire that broke out today, destroying large areas estimated at about 350 dunums of wheat crops in the governorate.
The Director of Agriculture indicated that the losses would have been greater had it not been for the quick intervention of civil defense personnel, praising the efficiency and response of the teams concerned:
Staff of the East Irbid Civil Defense Directorate: who dealt with the fire with utmost professionalism.
Dr. Abu Orabi sent a message of thanks and appreciation to all civil defense cadres for their tireless and continuous efforts in protecting the agricultural sector and property, especially during the summer when the region witnesses a rise in temperatures and an increase in the possibility of fires.
