US President Donald Trump confirmed that Iran “fully and completely agreed” to allow International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to return to its territory, and that Washington will no longer blockade the Islamic Republic’s ports.
He wrote on his platform, Truth Social: “Iran has fully and completely agreed to nuclear inspections at the highest level (indefinitely!!!). This will ensure nuclear integrity.”
Trump indicated that the negotiations between the two countries are “going well,” adding: “Based on this and other major concessions made by Iran, I agreed to allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open, and no naval blockade.”
Prior to that, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said in a press briefing: “We do not intend to allow IAEA inspectors to visit the nuclear sites targeted in the conflict.”
He also clarified that the Iranian delegation headed by Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf to Switzerland did not hold any meeting with the director of the UN agency, Rafael Grossi.
In another context, the Sultanate of Oman and Iran announced that they will work on an agreement regarding the future management of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the services and costs associated with that, according to a joint statement published by the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, an Iranian military source told Fars News Agency that a limited number of ships are allowed to cross the Strait of Hormuz daily in coordination with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy.
This comes at a time when Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi joined President Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday, on a visit that comes after a round of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic, in which Islamabad plays a mediation role.
