As part of bilateral cooperation, elements of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), aboard the Reformador-class frigate ARM Benito Juárez (POLA 101), did an exchange of subject matter experts with the visit, board, search and secure (VBSS) team aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101) in the Pacific Ocean.
The embassy of USA in Mexico shared information from the Northern Command, which highlighted the exercises between elements of both countries.
It was indicated that as part of Southern Seas 2026, the USS Gridley carried out a crossing exercise with the ARM Benito Juárez of the Semarduring a bilateral maritime meeting between Mexico and the United States.

“Southern Seas 2026 seeks to strengthen capabilities, improve interoperability and reinforce maritime alliances,” Northern Command said.
He added that this meeting highlights the decades-long partnership between the United States and Mexico, “based on trust, mutual benefit and respect for the sovereignty“.
“Together, we continue to strengthen operational readiness and coordination to address shared maritime challenges,” he noted.
