Francis of Assisi, poor, simple, “disarmed and disarming”, a living presence, still capable today of being a symbol of peace in a world devastated by wars: the church of Termoli dedicated to the Poverello – as part of the 50th anniversary of its erection as a parish and the eighth centenary of the saint’s death – hosted a debate last Friday which intertwined spirituality, international law, diplomacy, geopolitics, European defence, with the aim of placing commitment at the center for peace as responsibility, choice, testimony.
