KABUL (Pajhwok): The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) and Zalmay Khalilzad, former US special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation has expressed deep concern over last night’s airstrikes by Pakistan’s military regime on Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces, and has condemned the attacks.

Mullah Hamdullah Fitrah, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), wrote on his X account that as a result of these attacks, 36 people, including women and children, were martyred and 163 others were wounded.
Meanwhile, the International Human Rights Foundation, in a report released today, Monday, said the attacks caused heavy harm to civilians, destroyed several residential houses, and resulted in widespread human casualties
The foundation called on Pakistan to immediately and transparently clarify the circumstances, legal grounds and targeting protocols governing these operations.
The International Human Rights Foundation also called on the international community, including the United Nations and relevant human rights mechanisms, to closely monitor these developments, document all incidents, and support fact-finding missions.
The report said: “We reiterate that the protection of civilian life is not optional – it is a binding legal and moral obligation. We stand ready to assist in any effort to establish the facts, protect the rights of victims, and ensure justice for all affected families.”
Zalmay Khalilzad, former US special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation, has condemned Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan last night, saying that Islamabad, despite global and domestic calls to resolve disputes through dialogue, has once again attacked Afghanistan, killing and wounding dozens of civilians.
In a message posted on his X account, he wrote: “Ignoring calls from around the world and from many Pakistanis to negotiate to resolve differences with its neighbor, Pakistan has once again attacked Afghanistan and once again killed and wounded many. I have always condemned Pakistan’s killing of innocent Afghans; I do so again today.”
He added that Pakistan has so far not given a constructive response to the plans and proposals that the Islamic Emirate has agreed to.
Khalilzad warned that if Pakistan’s goal is to destabilize Afghanistan and increase China’s influence, this policy would be contrary to US interests and could lead to the expansion of activities by “terrorist groups, particularly ISIS-Khorasan,” and increase geopolitical challenges in the region.
