On Sunday, the Hungaroring celebrated the completion of the largest renovation in its history with a community event titled “Tiéd a Ring!” attended by 4,000 people. With this event, the Formula 1 racetrack reopened its gates to test drivers, racers, corporate events, conferences, and the general public.
Visitors to the F1 track in Mogyoród could walk or run on the asphalt track, participate in a Pilates class on the rooftop terrace, take guided tours to explore the brand-new main building and grandstand, enjoy coffee at the finish line, and discover the Hungaroring forest. Visitors of all ages, from the youngest to adults, got a taste of the basics of safe driving; in the final turns of the track, they could get a glimpse of rapid response training, that is, learn about the exciting work of the race marshals.
The Hungaroring has been renovated inside and out in recent years. The second phase of the strategic development program, which began in 2023 with utility infrastructure improvements, included the renovation of the main entrance and the construction of the operations center (2024), the expansion of the paddock and the creation of an event area behind the grandstand (2025), as well as the reconstruction of the main building and the grandstand have now been completed.

Construction work had been temporarily suspended, resuming after the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix. The main building only appeared finished from the outside during the most recent race; the F1 contract stipulated that the race must be held every year even during the renovation, and in such a way that the track does not look like a construction site. However, part of the main building—which appears finished from the outside and houses, for example, race control, the media center, and the expanded VIP area—was not yet complete; only the walls were standing.
By now, however, the construction consortium has completed the work and “handed over” the facility, which is now ready to host world-class events: whether it is a world championship race, Formula 1 tests, national championship races, test drives, open days, or even conferences, family days, and corporate events. The Hungaroring can continue to operate as a multifunctional event center 365 days a year.
The track’s renovation represents not only an aesthetic and technical advancement, but also clearly elevates the Hungaroring to the world’s forefront in terms of infrastructure,”
said Zsolt Gyulay, Chairman and CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. As he put it: “The completely renovated main building and grandstand represent a standard of quality worthy of the world’s greatest international race tracks.” “It is a particular pleasure for us to have opened this new chapter with a large-scale community event, as the Hungaroring has always been more than just a racetrack: it is a meeting place, an experience center, and a community space.”

The new main building houses 36 race pits and 4 technical pits, a restaurant, a VIP area, a press center, and the new race control center has also been completed. In addition to the commentator booths, a VIP terrace has been built for the new 13,000-square-meter grandstand. The new grandstand is covered and has a capacity of 10,000 people. The event area has been expanded and is supported by a new retaining wall system on the forest side.
The new main building and the new grandstand are connected by a tunnel at the beginning and end of the home straight, respectively, to facilitate the movement of organizers, athletes, and visitors between the two areas. All tickets for Sunday of this year’s Formula 1 race weekend in Hungary are sold out, but tickets for Friday and Saturday of the Hungarian Grand Prix, taking place July 24–26, are still available.
