“There is more to life than football, but now I enjoy every minute of playing football as if it were my last.” Three-time England international Missy Bo Kearns chose these emotional words in an interview with ITV News. In an interview with the TV station, the 25-year-oldyear-old had a public miscarriage.
The Aston Villa midfielder and her Luton Town partner Liam Walsh announced the pregnancy on March 1 but lost the baby a few weeks later. Kearns says she felt unwell at Aston Villa’s training ground on March 18 and went to see the team doctor.

“I had a fever of 42 degrees and was shaking all over. We drove to the hospital and there we immediately found out that we had lost the baby and that I had developed sepsis,” said Nati ace Noelle Maritz’s teammate. «It was a shock. My whole life changed from one moment to the next.”
The England international went on to say that she was grateful to the team doctor for the advice to go to hospital immediately. She explains: “I’m so grateful to the doctors here at Villa because if I had been home that day and called my mom and said, ‘I’m having some flu-like symptoms,’ everyone would probably have just said, ‘Get some sleep’ or something.”

“I still struggle with the psychological trauma”
But team doctor Jodie Blackadder-Weinstein urged her to go to the hospital. She didn’t want to go there, said Kearns, “but they probably saved my life.” The 25-year-old continued: “We had to go through hell for three or four days in the hospital in Birmingham. I think we’ve only now fully understood what we’ve been through.”
The footballer is now doing better. But she doesn’t expect to be able to play again until next season. Most recently, she visited Villa’s training ground to see her teammates and work on her fitness. “I’m still struggling with the psychological trauma,” she says.
