The spokeswoman of the Institute, Agnješka Prasek, said that it is already possible to talk about a new temperature record, although the official confirmation is still pending, “TVP world” reports.
According to the Institute’s data, the city of Toruń in the north-central part of Poland reached 40.3 degrees Celsius today, which is also above the previous national maximum.
The Polish Meteorological Institute has issued the highest level of heat wave warning for most of the country, which will be in effect until tomorrow evening, with the forecast that the temperature locally could reach 42 degrees Celsius.
The new record came just one day after Slubice recorded 38.9 degrees, breaking the June temperature record of 38.3 degrees from 2019.
