Three people died this weekend on board the cruise ship Hondiuswho was traveling from Argentina to Cape Verde. The main suspicion lies in an outbreak of hantavirus, a rare group of viruses typically transmitted through contact with rodent urine or feces. According to the World Health Organization, one of the deaths has already been confirmed in the laboratory as a case of hantavirus — five other people (two have died, another is in intensive care) are suspected of also having been infected.
