Three Haitians – two men and a woman – were sentenced to prison yesterday after admitting to using forged NIB cards at the Alice Town, Bimini Airport.
Peterson Auguste, 35, Laitile Delhomme, 30, and Joadly Alteus, 29, pleaded guilty to possession of forged documents and uttering forged documents when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly-Burrows.
Auguste and Delhomme, who were in the country illegally, were each sentenced to 18 months in prison, while Auguste, who had a pending work permit renewal, received a one year sentence.
The magistrate recommended deportation for Auguste and Delhomme.
On April 25, the convicts traveled to Bimini from Nassau on Western Air.
They were arrested after presenting the bogus NIB cards to an immigration officer.
Sergeant 560 Vernon Pyfrom was the prosecutor.
