After the events of January 3, and after the reestablishment of relations with the United States, gradually different international airline companies have been announcing the return of their connections with Venezuela, with the months of March and April as dates for reestablishing operations.
Recently, the Association of Airlines in Venezuela (Alav) reported that in the country there are currently around 151 weekly international flights to 11 main destinations. This figure reflects the progressive reactivation of the airline sector that Venezuela is experiencing in 2026, after the massive suspensions and restrictions that affected operations at the end of 2025, when several international airlines canceled their flights for security reasons amid the escalation of tensions between the government of Donald Trump and that of Nicolás Maduro.
The recovery process began in January 2026 with the reinforcement of routes operated by national airlines. In February and March, important foreign companies gradually incorporated, once security warnings were lifted and operational and regulatory conditions were normalized.
Foreign airlines such as the Colombian Avianca resumed operations in mid-February, followed by Wingo, Latam, Air Europa, Plus Ultra, Turkish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Gol and others that resumed their flights between February and April. This progressive return responds to the new political and diplomatic context that opened after the events of January.
Active international airlines
Among the companies that currently operate, the following stand out: Avianca, Air Europa, Copa Airlines, Gol, Iberia, Latam, Plus Ultra, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines and Wingo. National airlines with routes abroad include Avior, Conviasa, Laser, Rutaca, Turpial and Estelar.
Main destinations and connections:
- Colombia: The most active route. Avianca, Wingo, Laser, Avior, Rutaca and Turpial connect Caracas with Bogotá and Medellín. Frequencies exceed 40 flights per week in this corridor.
- Panama: Copa Airlines maintains direct and daily connection with Panama City.
- Spain: Air Europa, Iberia, Plus Ultra and Laser Airlines cover the route to Madrid (some with extensions to Tenerife). Operations were reinforced between February and April.
- Other destinations in Europe: TAP Air Portugal flies to Lisbon and Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul.
- South America: Gol connects with Sao Paulo and Latam with Santiago de Chile.
- Caribbean: Active routes to Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Curacao, operated mainly by national airlines.
American Airlines, as recently announced, will begin direct operations between Miami and Caracas starting April 30, 2026. This route marks the return of a key connection with the United States after almost seven years of suspension and represents an important step in the normalization of bilateral connectivity.
Fares vary by airline, season, and how far in advance you purchase. Prices for one-way flights range from around $225 to regional destinations to more than $900-1,000 on transatlantic routes or to Miami, according to reports from ALAV and travel agencies.
The sector registers a progressive recovery after the period of suspensions. Guild experts point out that the increase in frequencies and the entry of new airlines improve options for passengers, although connectivity is still below historical levels.
Those interested in traveling should check schedules and availability directly on official airline websites or authorized platforms, as operations may be adjusted based on demand or regulatory authorizations.
