Foreign Ministry’s cold water on speculations; Will the memorandum of ending the war not be signed?

According to the online economy report, Ismail Baqaei, in a press conference with the media held in Hamadan Governorate on Saturday, in response to a question about the latest status of the Islamabad Memorandum and its process, stated: We have gone through a process of almost two months since the announcement of the ceasefire on April 19 and the process that started with the mediation of Pakistan.

According to IRNA, he continued: This process has had many ups and downs and the main reason is that the American side did not have a conventional negotiation model. The conflicting positions of American officials and the frequent change of their views through the media have both made the work of mediators difficult and prolonged the process.

Referring to America’s bad promises towards Iran, Baqa’i stated: We have a responsibility to follow this diplomatic process with pessimism; Because the experience of a year and a half of negotiations with the American side and their bad promises and crimes during the previous negotiations, requires us to take every step carefully with extreme caution and foresight.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the issues between Iran and the United States are very complicated and added: Considering previous experiences, at this stage the focus is on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and it was decided not to discuss the nuclear issue.

He said: This is not the final agreement between Iran and America, but it is an understanding that outlines the main points of dispute and specifies that the war will end.

Baghai continued: The nuclear issue is also supposed to be discussed in a 60-day period, so at this stage, there will be no discussion about its details.

Beqaei added: Attacks on Iranian shipping and issues related to the Strait of Hormuz are among the topics discussed at this stage.

Regarding the possible time of signing this memorandum, he also said: We have to wait for the exact time of signing. Although it will not happen tomorrow, the possibility of this happening in the coming days is not ruled out.

Beqaei added: However, due to the hesitation of the other side, we should be cautious in making any comments about this process.
