Idlib, May 27 (SANA) Syria’s First Lady Latifa al-Droubi, wife of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, met on Wednesday with Samira al-Qaddour, a school principal from Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, in recognition of her community and educational initiatives and her resilience during years of war.
Al-Qaddour, mother of a martyr, is known locally for her civic, social and educational work and for being a symbol of resilience and supporting anti-regime protests in their early stages. She also opened her home to wounded civilians before being displaced to camps in northern Syria by the deposed regime.
After liberation, she returned to the town of Kafranbel in late 2024, and launched several education and development initiatives, including the restoration of a local school with the participation of women from the town. The effort contributed to her appointment as the school’s principal and encouraged displaced families to return.
The meeting comes as part of the First Lady’s efforts to support women involved in community initiatives and civil society work.
